Plate evaporation for coconut water

Coconut water is a documented application for the plate evaporation system. The equipment concentrates a prepared aqueous stream; the feed preparation and target concentration determine the selected evaporation duty.

Prepare the aqueous stream

Raw-material handling can introduce fine solids, fibres and traces of oil into coconut water. Review these before the plate passages are specified. Screening and appropriate clarification or phase separation address a defined feed problem.

The Indonesian application uses three-phase disc separation ahead of the three-effect evaporator. This project provides an example of preparation and concentration working together; it does not require the same separator for every feed.

Specify concentration and water removal separately

Provide incoming flow, temperature and inlet concentration together with the concentrate target. State whether concentration is measured as Brix or non-volatile solids, and identify the density basis when flow is given in L/h.

The Philippine project reports a target from 4 to 60 Brix, 4,000 L/h feed and 3,700 L/h water removal. The Indonesian project reports 6,000 L/h water removal. Neither project rating should be reused as a universal feed capacity.

Coordinate product quality and the outlet

Set the permissible thermal exposure, expected foaming and requirements for concentrate handling. Vacuum operation supports a reduced boiling temperature, but the acceptable condition is still chosen for the actual liquid and quality criteria.

Connect concentrate discharge to the specified cooling, holding or filling duty. The evaporator is a concentration package; final preservation and storage conditions depend on the downstream product route.
